(9-13-26) This past Friday Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel was a guest on WCSM’s Spectrum.

The program aired for over 20 minutes, included was updates on various city projects, additions etc.

But left out of the update was the new Celina Fire Department Firehouse location and what process is taking place at this time.

One of the items being celebrated was the city’s sale to the schools of the Public Works Building on Portland St.

Celina City Schools approved a $500,000 agreement on May 20, 2024, to acquire the former Celina Public Works property at 308 Portland Street from the City of Celina.

Building plans when introduced listed the following:

New Pre K-4 added on to the current 5-6 intermediate building

Primary and elementary schools would be demolished

Where primary building is currently housed a new 7-12 building will be built

Ed Complex will torn down to the Fieldhouse, which will be saved

Portions of the current high school (added in 1984) would be saved, administration offices and head start would be housed former

Tri Star classes housed at the HS would be the new bus garage

Instead the schools decided to pay $500,000 for this location.
