(9-11-26) Jay County Civic Theatre’s board of directors reviewed its five-year strategic plan during its meeting Thursday.

The board noted that the organization has accomplished 10 of the 13 goals set out in the plan, which was completed in fall 2023. Members discussed making progress on remaining goals, which include obtaining or building a permanent facility for JCCT, providing specific training for jobs like lighting design, costume design and projection, and developing instruction manuals for key roles.

The board also voted to make some show-related duties the responsibility of the organization rather than the director. This change is intended to relieve the burden on future directors and provide consistency for members and patrons.

The board also:

•Approved the budget for its production of “White Christmas.”

•Assigned board liaisons for upcoming shows.

•Approved show selection committee recommendations for shows through 2029.

•Discussed a fall social event for members that is being organized by the junior ambassadors.

•Talked about new (free) software programs that are being utilized for communication with patrons and members.

•Agreed to move forward with a bylaw proposal that would require board members to make an annual financial contribution to the organization

The next Jay County Civic Theatre regular board meeting will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the board room at Arts Place.
