(8-4-26) Buc–ee’s, which opened its first location in Ohio earlier this year in Huber Heights, is suing Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio for what they allege is trademark infringement.
In the suit Buc-ee’s alleges that the Mini Mart’s cartoon beaver mascot is too similar to their own, with its “wide eyes and a smile” that also “uses red as a predominant color,” and could cause confusion.
In a statement sent to WHIO TV 7, Beaver’s Mini Mart said:
“We created Beavers Mini Mart to represent our connection to this community and the city we proudly serve-Beavercreek. This lawsuit is unfair, and we believe small businesses should be able to operate without being bullied by large corporations. We are standing up for our rights and will fight this lawsuit all the way.”

So Buc-ee’s opens a store in a town named BEAVERCREEK, where there has probably been beaver themed business signs forever, then tells the local business that they are infringing on Buc-ee’s copyright. It is obvious who is being difficult here. I think Buc-ee’s is over-rated. I went to one once. It added probably an hour to our trip. It was so crowded that people were lined up just to park or get gas. The store was so crowded you could barely walk through it. When I am traveling, I want my fuel stops to be quick and easy, so I will not be returning to Buc-ee’s.
