(6-28-26) A fatal crash investigation is underway by the Ohio State Highway Patrol following a 4:15 am crash on northbound I-75 near the 108 Mile Marker
A Ford Explorer driven by Holly Williams (48) of Howell, Michigan, went off the left side of the roadway, struck the median cable barrier, re-entered traffic and became disabled in the right lane.
A passenger, James Johnson (54) of Limestone, Tennessee, exited the Explorer and attempted to move it from the roadway. A northbound Freightliner semi then struck the disabled SUV from behind, pushing it off the roadway and into Johnson.
Johnson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital.
Williams and an 11-year-old child from Howell, Michigan, both who wearing seat belts, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The semi driver, Charles Pagel, was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
