NEW E BIKE & SCOOTER RULES – STARTS JULY 2

Minster residents — with the rise in e-bikes and scooters around town, new safety rules go into effect July 2.

Here’s what you need to know:

👨‍👩‍👧 HELMETS (Under 18)

  • Required for anyone under 18 operating OR riding
  • Must be properly fitted and strapped

💡 LIGHTS & VISIBILITY

  • White headlight (visible up to 500 feet)
  • Red rear light or reflector required
  • If you’re riding at night, you need to be seen

🚫 SIDEWALK RESTRICTION

  • Faster Class 3 e-bikes are NOT allowed on sidewalks or public trails

👮‍♂️ ENFORCEMENT

  • First contact = warning and education
  • Continued violations may lead to small fines (if offender is a juvenile, their parent or guardian can be cited)

🎯 WHY THE CHANGE?
These updates are focused on protecting our younger riders and improving safety for everyone as these devices become more common.

We’re here to educate first — not write tickets. Help us out by making sure riders know the rules before heading out.
