PRESS RELEASE

On May 26, 2026 at approximately 5:22 a.m. Darke County Deputies along with Versailles Police Department, Versailles Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 9800 block of State Route 185, Versailles in reference to an injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a bicyclist was traveling north on State Route 185. A silver 2004 Cadillac Escalade being driven by George Worden III (43) of Versailles was also traveling north on State Route 185. Worden drifted to the left on the roadway to avoid the bicyclist. The bicyclist also swerved to the left and was struck by the mirror of Worden’s vehicle and fell off the bicycle.

The operator of the bicycle was identified as Skyler Butt (30) of Piqua, Ohio. Butt was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
