(4-16-26) Parkway Seniors Taylor Muhlenkamp and Emmery Temple were two of ten Mercer County seniors awarded a $500 DARE Scholarship at the Annual Senior DARE Scholarship Luncheon held at the Hopewell Grange Hall at the Mercer County Fairgrounds on Tuesday. These students have remained true to their fifth grade DARE pledge, which is to remain drug, tobacco, and alcohol free.

Essays were received from 38 seniors in Mercer County addressing the topic “As you complete your high school year, how has DARE influenced your decision to remain alcohol and drug free? How has this decision affected you in your high school career?” Applicants also had to document academic achievements and extracurricular activities that reflect the spirit and goals of DARE and provide two letters of recommendation.

Other Parkway seniors who applied and attended the luncheon were Kaleb Gilliland, Rylan Lyons, Taylor Minnich, Natalie Moeller, and Christina Tong. High School Principal Mr. Brian Fortkamp accompanied the students.
