(8-8-25) On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 5:32pm, Darke County Sheriff Deputies, along with Tri-Village Rescue, New Madison Fire, Union City EMS and Greenville Police Department Officers responded to the round-about intersection of US Route 36 West and State Route 121 South regarding a single-vehicle injury crash.

The vehicle, a blue 2017 Ford Fusion, driven by Gerald Brown, 82, of Greenville was traveling eastbound on US Route 36 West before striking the center of the round-about, causing the vehicle to go off road to the left. The vehicle then returned to the roadway, striking the easternmost roundabout curb, before going off road to the right, coming to rest.

Brown was believed to have suffered a major cardiac event prior to the traffic crash and life-saving measures were initiated by first responders on scene.

Brown was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight, where he was later pronounced deceased. Brown did not suffer any physical injuries as a result from the traffic crash.
