From the Mercer County Sheriffโ€™s Department-

(6-11-25) One of our own dispatchers, Liz Johnson, is currently in the fight of her life after being diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer. The tumor damaged the nerve to her vocal cords, and sheโ€™s lost her voiceโ€”making it impossible for her to do the job she loves so deeply. With her current treatment plan, she has a long road ahead, and we all knew we had to do something to help her along until she is able to return to work.

The past two weeks, we held a Pie in the Face Fundraiser to show our support for Liz and her family. Each division competed to raise the most, and in true poetic fashionโ€ฆ Dispatch came out on top. As a reward, 911 Administrator Rachel Williams took a pie to the faceโ€”and so did Sheriff Timmerman, because why not add a little extra love (and whipped cream)?

But hereโ€™s the best partโ€”Liz had NO idea. She didnโ€™t know about the fundraiser, and she certainly didnโ€™t know she was going to be the one doing the pie-ing! Her smile said it all.

We would do anything for our own. And Liz, weโ€™re with you every step of the way. Keep fighting, sis. Weโ€™ve got you.
