From the Mercer County Sheriffโs Department-
(6-11-25) One of our own dispatchers, Liz Johnson, is currently in the fight of her life after being diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer. The tumor damaged the nerve to her vocal cords, and sheโs lost her voiceโmaking it impossible for her to do the job she loves so deeply. With her current treatment plan, she has a long road ahead, and we all knew we had to do something to help her along until she is able to return to work.

The past two weeks, we held a Pie in the Face Fundraiser to show our support for Liz and her family. Each division competed to raise the most, and in true poetic fashionโฆ Dispatch came out on top. As a reward, 911 Administrator Rachel Williams took a pie to the faceโand so did Sheriff Timmerman, because why not add a little extra love (and whipped cream)?
But hereโs the best partโLiz had NO idea. She didnโt know about the fundraiser, and she certainly didnโt know she was going to be the one doing the pie-ing! Her smile said it all.
We would do anything for our own. And Liz, weโre with you every step of the way. Keep fighting, sis. Weโve got you.
