(2-6-25) According to Allen County Recorder’s Office a deed was filed on January 31st by the Target Corporation who purchased 9 acres at the Lima Mall, at the former location of Macy’s at 2600 Elida Road, for $4.5 million.
A statement from Target Corporation-
”We’re excited to bring an easy, affordable and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the Lima community with this new Target store Located at Elida Road and North Cable Road, the store will be approximately 128,000 square feet.”
In November, the region received a $1,375,996 state grant to demolish the west side of the Lima Mall of the current Macy’s store that has been closed since 2021.

The project will abate asbestos and demolish the former Macy’s Building, vacant since the local mall’s decline. The demolition will allow for the construction of a new anchor store, creating approximately 200 jobs.

The demolition will give Target to start future construction of the new Lima location.
According to public records filed the operation and easement agreement between Target Corporation, Lima Mall Realty Holding LLC and Rocky Four Investments LLC, Target will get a 20 percent share on the mall’s pylon sign. The building will not exceed 30 feet tall, and the largest architectural features on the building cannot exceed 36 feet.
