(8-3-24)The Jay County Sheriff’s Department at around 2:14 p.m. Thursday afternoon was called to investigate a crash. Ricardo A. Duarte (47) of Juarez, Chihuahua, a resident of Mexico, swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing an accident along County Road 200 South.

Duarte was driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia west when a deer ran in front of him. Duarte swerved to avoid hitting the animal, causing the semi to go off the north side of the road and into a ditch and rolled on its top

Duarte complained of shoulder pain. No report was made on the deer.

The Cascadia is registered to Arredondo Logistics of El Paso, Texas.
