(10-10-23) Ryan A. Blount (51) Portland, pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to a Level 6 strangulation felony. He was sentenced to 545 days in the Jay County Jail with 387 days suspended and given 158 days credit for time served.
Level 6 Felonies are the lowest level felonies charged in Indiana. Indiana Level 6 Felonies are generally viewed as being more severe than misdemeanors, yet less severe than all other levels of felonies.
All Indiana Level 6 Felonies subject the accused to a term of imprisonment of 6 months to 2.5 years. Although the majority of these sentences would be served in the local county jail, it is possible for the sentence to be served in an Indiana Department of Correction prison facility.
Blount was charged $565 in court costs and filing fees and fined $25. As part of his plea
agreement, a Class A misdemeanor for domestic battery was dismissed
