(10-7-23) Two Portland men were sentenced, one for child pornography and one for child solicitation.

Randall L. Rains (74) Portland man was sentenced to prison for possession of child pornography.
Rains pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to the Level 5 felony. As part of his plea agreement, three
counts of Level 5 felonies for possession of child pornography were dismissed.
In Indiana…Child exploitation by knowingly creating, selling, sending, or presenting materials showing sexual conduct or showing the genitals or breasts of children under 18 whether in person or on a computer, a Level 5 felony.
Rains was sentenced to three years in Indiana Department of Correction for three years with 30 months suspended and given one day credit for time served. Rains was placed on probation and assessed $189 in court costs.

Jonathan I. Coy (30) Portland man was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in Jay Circuit Court to child solicitation, a Level 4 felony.
The offense of child solicitation is classified as a Level 5 felony, which is punishable by up to six years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. However, under some circumstances, this charge can be elevated to a Level 4 felony, which could result in up to 12 years in prison.
Coy was sentenced to seven years at Indiana Department of Correction and given credit for time served. Coy was fined $1, assessed $185 in court costs and ordered to pay a $500 sexual assault victims fee.
