(9-24-23) In August Mercer County once again has the lowest unemployment rate in the State of Ohio at 2.5%. The county continues to lead the way since after the pandemic ended.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.4% in August 2023, up from 3.3% in July 2023. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 3,500 over the month, from a revised 5,636,200 in July to 5,639,700 in August.

  • Van Wert – 3.2%
  • OHIO – 3.4%
  • Shelby – 3.4%
  • Allen 4.1%

Jefferson County has the highest unemployment rate at 5.5%.

Did you know…..

Nevada had the highest unemployment rate, 5.4 percent. In total, 27 states had unemployment rates lower than the U.S. figure of 3.8 percent, 2 states and the District of Columbia had higher rates, and 21 states had rates that were not appreciably different from that of the nation.
