(6-21-23) Six Republicans voted present on Wednesday before the U.S. House of Representatives censured Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., 213-209 along party lines.

Rep. David Joyce

The GOP members who voted here included Reps. David Joyce (14th District) of Ohio, Michael Guest of Mississippi, Andrew Garbarino, of New York, Ken Buck of Colorado, John Rutherford of Florida and Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota.

Joyce has made no comment on his vote today.

Schiff was the chairman and ranking member of the Intelligence Committee during the Trump administration, and he became the face of Democratic accusations that members of Trump’s 2016 campaign team colluded with Russia to defeat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

The measure requires the House Committee on Ethics to investigate Schiff’s “falsehoods, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information.”

Schiff was required to stand on the House floor and receive a formal reprimand.

The vote made Schiff just the third member of the House to be censured since the turn of the century.
