(5-26-23) The assistant chief of the Farmland,k Indiana Volunteer Fire Department Kyle T. Osgood (31) was killed Thursday morning in an accident involving a tanker truck in western Randolph County.

Osgood, a volunteer firefighter for about 15 years, was the grandson of a former Farmland fire chief.

Osgood was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that was reported around 6:30 a.m. along Randolph County Road 1000-W near County Road 400-N.

Osgood was en route to a reported barn fire and was driving his department’s tanker truck northbound when it rolled over as it approached a s-curve.

The vehicle reportedly came to rest on both Osgood and fellow firefighter Zachary Lee (19).

Lee, the only other occupant of the truck suffered serious injuries to his lower extremities and was flown by medical helicopter to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital.
