(4-11-23) A multi-county car pursuit that started in Lima, continued into Auglaize County and finally ended in Shelby County. At around 7:45 p.m., the Lima Police Department was investigating an incident that resulted in a chase with a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover driven by Joseph Landers (36) of Cincinnati.

The chase was ended by Lima officers in the area of SR 65 to Interstate 75 south. The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Patrol would continue the chase when they located Landers’ car and attempted to stop it and another chase started.

Stop sticks were deployed multiple times but those attempts failed to stop Landers. He would attempt to avoid stop sticks near the 92-mile marker on I-75 southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, traveling off the left side of the roadway and striking the median.

Avoiding verbal commands, Landers eventually exited his car after running southbound before he was taken into custody.

He is presently being held in the Allen County Jail in Lima.
