(3-9-23) Dave was born in Darmstadt, Germany after WWII and came to the US in 1957 when his father’s tour of duty with the USAF was completed. He graduated high school with honors and went on to attend Purdue University for pilot training.

He is the author of numerous articles for national and international trade journals and has self-published several books including “Ohio River Valley Families”, a 200+ page genealogy work. He has also written fiction and non-fiction books. His 2007 non-fiction book titled “Anarchy in the Heartland” explores the notorious yet forgotten Reno Brothers Gang; the world’s first train robbers.

In 2009, on a challenge, he wrote a supernatural thriller “The Lost Souls of Bell Valley; a historical-fiction account of the 1925 wreck of the airship USS Shenandoah in southeastern Ohio. He was the Executive Producer of the 2013 documentary “The Legend of the Reno Brothers” and appears in it as a Reno Historian.

Dave has two grown children and two grandchildren. He spent many a summer vacation on Grand Lake Saint Mary’s In Graham’s Cottages on West Bank Road with his grandparents and parents. Now “retired” he and his wife Ellen of 40+ years, make their summer home on Long Lake near Alpena, Michigan and their winter home in Noblesville, Indiana near both their families.
