(1-18-23) Mercer County is seeing changes that will take place in 2025. The 2nd incumbent Republican candidate, Mercer County Commissioner Jerry Laffin, announced he would not seek election in 2024 after this term ends. He joins current Republican incumbent, Sheriff Jeff Grey, who announced recently that this would be his last term in office.

At a recent Mercer County Republican Party meeting Laffin made the announcement that after 11 terms that he would not run again. Laffin will have served over forty years as the Commissioner dating back to the 1980 election.
