(1-11-23) Former Fairview (Oklahoma) Police Chief Dan Smith (45) was taken into custody yesterday in Van Wert County as the result of a felony warrant for Smith being filed in the District Court of Major County (Ok).

Smith has been charged with two counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony in relation to an investigation that had previously led to charges against former Fairview council member Shane Bode.

According to the Van Wet County Sheriff’s Office Daily Log on Facebook—

1834 hrs. – Deputies served a Felony Warrant for two counts of Conspiracy issued out of Major County Oklahoma. Daniel Smith, age 45 of rural Convoy area was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility pending extradition.

Major County and Fairview are both located in the northwestern area of Oklahoma.
