(11-9-22) Two people were injured when a truck hit their horse-drawn Amish buggy on State Road 124 near CR 100 East, Monroe.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported that Cody L. Lautzenheiser was driving a pickup truck east on State Road 124 when hit an Amish buggy, occupied by Nathan J. Schwartz and his wife Salome L.M. Schwartz.

Lautzenheiser told officers he did not see the buggy before he hit it.

Nathan suffered a serious head injury and other bodily injuries.

Salome was unresponsive, having suffered multiple bodily injuries.

Nathan was flown to a local hospital by Lutheran Air and Salome was taken to a local hospital by the Adams County EMS.

Lautzenheiser denied medical treatment.

This crash remains under investigation.
