
(8-25-22) Jeremy Heath Van Voorhis (47) was arrested after a three county high speed chase, he is wanted in connection to a Dayton homicide in the death of Clinton Pierce (44) of Dayton. Pierce had been reported as a missing person since July before his body was found.
The chase also had impact on the New Knoxville schools, during the chase they were on a short lockdown.
At 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Freedom Elementary, Liberty Arts Magnet, Lima Senior, South Sci-Tech Magnet and Unity Elementary schools were placed in what school officials termed a “soft” lockdown during the chase as vehicles traveled at high rates of speed near several elementary schools.

This morning at approximately 11:00am the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office were assisting Dayton Police Department in an attempt to detain homicide suspect, Jeremy Heath Van Voorhis (DOB 1/13/1975) from the Dayton area. When the suspect was located deputies attempted to stop him, which the suspect immediately fled in his vehicle. The pursuit lasted approximately an hour and traversed 3 counties, ending in Shelby County on a country road. The suspect ultimately stopped his vehicle and surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident then transported to the Allen County Jail and charged with failure to comply.
