(8-23-22) Ricardo Nava (43) of Portland died about 9:22 p.m. on Saturday as the result of a car accident on U.S. 27 north of Portland in Jay County. Nava was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the driver’s side window of his vehicle. Nava’s vehicle ended up in a ditch after flipping multiple times with the car landing on top of him.
A witness, Rachal Hamilton of Portland, who was driving in front of Nava, informed officers that he was following too closely behind her vehicle. She would see Nava’s 2007 Buick Rendezvous begin to swerve several times and then flip at least three times and go into the ditch.
Results from an autopsy Monday are pending.
