(5-25-22) Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center are collaborating to offer a Healthy Waves Challenge to motivate and encourage the community to be more physically active this summer. The challenge requires participants to complete 1,020 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity from June 1 through July 12, 2022.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services site recommends that adults complete at least 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity each week. Preferably, aerobic activity should be spread throughout the week for substantial health benefits, such as reducing stress levels, boosting the immune system, improving sleep and preventing weight gain.
Jennifer Bills, Certified Personal Trainer & Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Mercer Health, recommends getting creative when it comes to your physical activity.
“There are numerous ways one can stay active. Outdoor activities (running, walking, biking and hiking); exercise with family, use online fitness resources, take a virtual class, create a relay race with kids, the options really are endless.”
This year’s challenge will also provide opportunities for Bonus Entries; follow Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center’s Facebook Pages for a NEW challenge announced each week for a chance to win up to SIX bonus entries.
