THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED ON ROAD CONDITIONS THROUGH NIXLE, THE SHERIFF’S APP AND OUR FACEBOOK PAGE, MERCERSHERIFF

PLEASE DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 OR CENTRAL DISPATCH TO INQUIRE ABOUT ROAD CONDITIONS.

STATES SHERIFF GREY

“I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND PEOPLE THAT I AM VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT ANNOUNCING SNOW LEVELS.   LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO ARE PRETTY SUBJECTIVE, BUT WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF THE ROAD CONDITIONS.  LEVEL THREE IS NOT SUBJECTIVE, WHEN MERCER COUNTY IS UNDER A LEVEL THREE, MOST ROADWAYS ARE IMPASSABLE.  THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE ONLY DECLARES SNOW LEVELS FOR UNICORPORATED AREAS AS CELINA AND VILLAGES MAY HAVE DIFFERENT ROAD CONDITIONS INSIDE THEIR MUNICIPALITIES”.

IN A LEVEL THREE, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE PULLS THEIR CRUISERS OFF THE ROADWAYS AND WILL ONLY RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES AS THE ROADS ARE IMPASSABLE AND DEPUTIES MAY NEED A COUNTY OR STATE SNOW PLOW TO LEAD THEM TO THE CALL SO THEY CAN GET THROUGH.

Sheriff Grey –

“IN THE EVENT OF A LEVEL THREE, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL HAVE A CAR STATIONED AT MENDON FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HANDLE CALLS IN THE NORTH, ONE AT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO HANDLE CALLS IN THE CENTRAL AREAS, AND ONE AT THE ST. HENRY FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HANDLE CALLS IN THE SOUTH. WE THANK THOSE FIRE DEPARTMENTS FOR ALLOWING US TO USE THEIR STATIONS.”
