(1-25-22) Ohio’s December Unemployment Rates have been released.

Mercer County has the 2nd lowest rate in Ohio at 2.1% (behind Holmes at 2.0%), down from November at 2.2%.

  • Van Wert County 2.6%
  • Darke County 2.8%
  • Shelby County 2.8%

Monroe County in Southeast Ohio has the highest rate 6.0%.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.5% in December 2021, down from 4.8% in November. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 8,800 over the month, from a revised 5,396,600 in November to 5,405,400 in December 2021.

The December unemployment rate for Ohio decreased from 5.6% in December 2020. The U.S. unemployment rate for December 2021 was 3.9%, down from 4.2% in November 2021, and down from 6.7% in December 2020.
