(12-21-21) Jill Miller (40) of Harrod, Ohio, was sentenced, to 5 to 7.5 years to serve in prison, this week for embezzling over $700,000 from Maple Leaf Family & Sports Medicine. In addition to the prison sentence, the judge ordered Miller to pay restitution and court costs.

On November 12, 2021, Miller entered a plea of guilty to identity fraud, a felony of the second degree. The charge stemmed from her use of her employer’s checking accounts and signature stamps to embezzle over $700,000 from them over several years.

She entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in November and pleaded guilty to the identity fraud charge in exchange for the state’s dismissal of the remaining counts

Miller ran up thousands of dollars on her personal credit cards (Kohls, Walmart, Chase, Discover Card, JC Penney, Sears, Best Buy, etc) each month and then used the office’s checking accounts to pay the monthly balance. Miller would change the checking account electronic register to reflect payments to false medical vendors.

Miller was terminated from her employment in July 2019. Detectives with the Bellefontaine Police Department and a forensic accountant with BCI&I helped to uncover her activities after reviewing the office’s records and subpoenaing financial statements.
