(11-9-21) On November 9, 2021 at approximately 1:24 p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Tri-Village Rescue, New Madison Fire Department, and The City of Greenville Fire department Collapse Unit responded to the intersection of US Route 127 and Hogpath Road, on an injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Red 2017 Ford pickup, driven by Philip Baum (82), of New Paris, had stopped at the stop sign on Hogpath Road, on the west side of the intersection of US Route 127. Baum traveled across US Route 127, failing to yield the right of way to a north bound 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe on US Route 127, driven by Michael O’Mara (67), of Hartford City, Indiana. Baum struck O’Mara’s vehicle on the driver’s side. After the vehicles collided, they both left the road on the Northeast corner of the intersection, and struck a residence. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the accident.
Baum, his passenger, and O’Mara were transported to Wayne Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
This accident remains under investigation.
