The above clip from the movie ‘Unplanned’ shows how an abortion is conducted…it is gruesome, but the procedure is what takes place everyday in America.
Editorial by Dave Schmidt
(10-27-21) The Celina City Council has taken up an issue that has stirred the community…abortion. The ordinance, that was defeated on the 1st reading Monday night 4-2, would make would make it illegal to perform and the city would become a sanctuary for the unborn.
Abortion is a hot item politically, but it is disappointing as a moral issue. Taking the life of any unborn child at anytime during a pregnancy is heartbreaking.
Even an eagle egg has more protection in American then an unborn child.
Bald Eagles are are protected by multiple federal laws, such as the Eagle Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Lacey Act, and other state and municipal protections. The Eagle Act prohibits anyone from taking, possessing, or transporting any eagle or eagle parts (including nests, eggs, feathers, etc) without prior authorization.
Under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act the first criminal offense is a misdemeanor with maximum penalty of one year in prison and $100,000 fine for an individual ($200,000 for an organization). The second offense becomes a felony with maximum penalty of 2 years in prison and $250,000 fine for individual ($500,000 for an “organization” such as a business). The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act also provides for maximum civil penalties of $5,000 for each violation.
Many say it is a woman’s right to take control of her body…but what about the baby?
No matter how the the Celina City Council votes on the ordinance,,,they have given us the opportunity to discuss why many of us feel that an unborn child deserves much more then facing an abortion in a cold room with strangers. I admire their effort to protect the unborn, it is the right thing to do.
It would have been easier not to have written this editorial, but supporting any unborn child far outweighs any of the backlash coming our way.
Will the ordinance stop abortions…not likely…but it will allow Celina to do what is right. Abortions will still happen, but not in Celina in the future. In a small way the Celina City Council can protect the lives of an unborn child…this is your opportunity to make a statement.
Saving the unborn does have a solution…one is having the child and giving him or her up for adoption. It works and it makes a lot of future parents happy with the choice of life over abortion.
Melissa Ohden, Founder & Director, The Abortion Survivors Network, and The Abortion Survivors Network Education & Policy Center testified in front of Congress.
Life is the foundation of all other rights. The very fact that this hearing is being held shows that everyone in this room was granted the privilege to retain that right-a privilege I was denied. A privilege my unprotected population of abortion survivors were denied. A right that thousands of unborn children will be denied the privilege of having today alone: the privilege of having a day you were born—not a day you were aborted. The privilege of a birthday—not a day you were accidentally born alive–after the abortion failed. I know this is an “issue” we are all passionate about, but this privilege is one that is easy for most people to overlook.

What the Bible says
Jeremiah 1:4-5 ESV
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Thank you, Dave, for this writing and for putting these links with it.
I agree with Dave, passing this ordinance is the right thing to do!
