Ohio’s unemployment rate was 5.4% in August 2021, unchanged from July. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased 2,400 over the month, from a revised 5,348,300 in July to 5,345,900 in August 2021.
Mercer County has the second lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.4%, just behind Holmes County who is 3.2%.

Hardin County at 5.3% fell 1.3% between July and August. Allen County dropped from 6.3% in July to 5.3% in August.
Three counties are above 7.0%….Meigs and Jefferson both at 7.1% and Athens at 7.0%.
