(7-25-21) After not allowing Ohio Rep Jim Jordan and Indiana Rep. Jim Banks to serve on the January 6th Select committee
Speaker Pelosi during a news conference told why she was rejecting the two representatives:
“made statements and took actions that just made it ridiculous to put them on such a committee seeking the truth,”
“When statements are ridiculous and fall into the realm of, ‘You must be kidding,’ there’s no way that they’re going to be on the committee.”
Speaker Nancy Pelosi today appointed Illinois Republican Rep Adam Kinzinger to the committee. Kinsinger is a long-time critic of President Trump and one of several Republicans who voted for President Trump to be impeached and for the Select Committee. He joins another of those Republicans Wyoming. Rep, Liz Cheney.

Kinzinger on January 6th Commission: When Duty Calls, I Will Answer
Washington, DC, July 25, 2021 Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after being asked to serve on the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.
Washington, DC – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after being asked to serve on the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol:
“For months, we have searched for answers and what process we should use to get them. For months, lies and conspiracy theories have been spread, threatening our self-governance. For months, I have said that the American people deserve transparency and truth on how and why thousands showed up to attack our democracy, and ultimately, what led to the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Complex on January 6, 2021.
“Self-governance requires accountability and responsibility. My faith requires the same of me, truth is necessary for order, and that’s what I will do. Let me be clear, I’m a Republican dedicated to conservative values, but I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution—and while this is not the position I expected to be in or sought out, when duty calls, I will always answer.
“This moment requires a serious, clear-eyed, non-partisan approach. We are duty-bound to conduct a full investigation on the worst attack on the Capitol since 1814 and to make sure it can never happen again.
“Today, I was asked by the Speaker to serve on the House Select Committee to Investigate January 6th and I humbly accepted. I will work diligently to ensure we get to the truth and hold those responsible for the attack fully accountable.”
With this announcement, Congressman Kinzinger will participate in the first hearing of the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, which will take place on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
