(7-16-21) Gallia County schools Superintendent Jude Meyers will be the next superintendent of Shawnee schools.

Meyers began his teaching career in the early 1980s at a Northwest Ohio Catholic school, where he taught fifth, seventh and eighth grades.

He has been the Gallia County Schools superintendent, he has taught or held administrative roles for nearly a dozen schools of all levels in Northern Ohio.

He has been in Gallia County since 2014 and was most recently the superintendent at Old Fort Schools near Toledo four years prior.

As Gallia County schools superintendent, he implemented a 1 to 1 Chromebook intiative and developed pre-school programs and funding.

Meyers is expected to begin his new position August 1st, after the board finalizes his hiring at its next meeting July 27th, he replaces outgoing Superintendent James Kanable, who announced his retirement in May.

In April Gallia County Local hired Phillip Kuhn as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Jude Meyers, who is retiring effective July 31.

Meyers has been busy since January interviewing for a Superintendent position.

In January he was one of five finalist for the Superintendent’s job at Northwest Local Schools in Canal Fulton. In February he was one of six finalist for the Superintendent’s job at Franklin Local Schools in Duncan Falls. In April he was one of two finalist for the Ravenna Superintendent’s job. In May he was one of two finalist for the Poland Local School Superintendent’s position. In June he was one of two finalist for the Norwalk City Schools Superintendent’s position.
