(6-27-21) Former President Donald Trump returned to Ohio on Saturday to a large crowd in Wellington. Trump’s main reason for the rally was to start a ‘Save America’ push for the 2022 elections. Trump keyed on Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, a northeastern Ohio Republican congressman who was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach him for inciting the January 6th attack on the Capitol.


The Ohio Republican Party’s governing board voted in May to censure Gonzalez and called on him to resign. Trump is supporting Max Miller, who is running against Gonzalez in next year’s GOP primary. Miller worked for Trump on the campaign trail and in the White House.

Trump said about Gonzalez during the rally –

“a grandstanding RINO”

“a sell-out, a fake Republican and a disgrace to your state.”

Miller, who joined Trump on stage, branded Gonzalez as #TurnCoatTony in a tweet after the rally.

Gonzalez has not replied or made a statement on Trump’s visit. Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted were ‘no-shows’ at the rally.
