(5-18-21) The Celina Board of Education at its May Meeting last night heard from 3 citizens (12 minute mark of the meeting video below) who expressed their concerns about the mask mandate in the school district.
Following discussion, Celina School Board Member Carl Huber proposed a measure to end the mask mandate immediately. The measure was voted down 3 to 2.
Carl Huber and Deb Guingrich voted yes.
Bill Sell, Craig Flack and Barb Vorhees voted no.
If we were to follow Mr. Sell’s “logic” of trusting these very smart people who have degree after degree and spent years studying viruses, then why stop at one mask? Mr Sell’s so called scholars have also stated that wearing two masks is better than wearing one. Well, if two masks are better than one, then wouldn’t three masks be better than two? And if three masks are better than two, then wouldn’t four masks be better than three? And if four masks are better than three, then wouldn’t five masks be better than four? And…I think you get the picture. Before placing blind faith in these “very smart people”, maybe a good dose of common sense might do this board well.

Appears the more we learn the less common sense we have. Sorrowful, the thinking of so few is effecting so many of our future leaders. Our children, the only asset that gains value over time is now being suppressed by masks, curriculum (CRT), loss of social skills at the hands of a politically biased group shows only how far we have digressed as a society.

Superintendent Ken Schmiesing pointed out the district’s insurance company indicated school officials could be putting themselves “in a liability situation” if they go away from health district orders.
Flack approached the issue from a liability standpoint, asking whether voters would rather see the district spending taxpayer dollars to fight a lawsuit or wait a few more days until the state health orders are lifted. “For all of you that are gathered in here, you know someone equally as passionate about masks that live in our district and sends their kids to this school,” he said. “What is to stop them from calling a lawyer and saying, ‘my district is now going against the health department?'”
Ohio is removing a mask requirement immediately for people who are fully vaccinated, in keeping with new guidance from the federal government, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday.
Mercer health district officials noted the Ohio Department of Health on Monday amended its health order to comply with new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention allowing those who have been fully vaccinated to stop wearing masks.
Liability standpoint?
