(4-19-21) Reverend Doug Meyer leads worship service at St. Pauls United Church of Christ and will return on Sunday April 25, 2021.
The Congregation of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Rockford welcomed Reverend Doug Meyer to the pulpit on Sunday, April 18, 2021. He will return again on Sunday, April 25, 2021. His message, titled, 7 Words that Changed the World, was a lesson for the Easter season which continues for 50 days from Easter to Pentecost. Doug read those 7 words that changed the world forever from the scripture lesson Mark 16:1-8 when Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus body. They found the tomb opened. The stone rolled away. They met with the glowing angel of God, inside the tomb, who told them He has risen! He is not here. Those 7 words, according to Doug, showed that love is stronger than hatred. Hope is stronger than despair after the cross. Because of those 7 words, we no longer have to live in fear and indifference. God, who opened the tomb, can open our tombs so we can get on with living. Life can be lived abundantly because of those 7 words. Because he lives, we too, shall live, said Reverend Doug, in his message.
Reverend Doug Meyer will be back in the pulpit on Sunday April 25, 2021 and Sunday May 9, 2021. He is the retired minister from St. Johns Lutheran Church in Celina serving over 50 years in the ministry of God.
