(4-15-21) Zy’Keera N. Townsend (17) has been confirmed by several sources as the murder victim in the incident that took place near Scott, Ohio on Tuesday.
The juvenile male suspect (name being withheld) appeared in the Van Wert County Juvenile Court, charges include:
- murder, an unclassified felony
- attempted murder (first-degree felony)
- felonious assault, (second degree felony)
Zy’Keera N. Townsend, 17, passed away on April 13, 2021, at 10:40 am, from a very unfortunate situation.
Zy’Keera was born October 29, 2003 in Lima, OH, to David Thompson and Ebony (Steve Griffiths) Townsend who survives in Lima, OH.
Zy’Keera was attending Elida High School and Apollo Career Center. Zy’Keera was going to enlist into the United States Army. She was on track to receive her nurse aid certificate in a few short weeks. She was positive and loving spirit. Whenever she walked into a room she always had a smile and lightened everyone’s vibe. Zy’Keera enjoyed painting, doing her makeup and hair, and enjoyed watching anime. She was a loving soul and will be so dearly missed.
Zy’Keera is survived by her siblings, Kynasia Townsend of Lima, OH, Jameris Townsend of Lima, OH, maternal grandmother, Pamela Gibson of Lima, OH, maternal grandfather, Roscoe (Kesha) Townsend of Lima, OH, aunts, LaToya Townsend of Lima, OH, Tina (Adam) Shafer of Lima, OH, Shawnda Gibson of Lima, OH, great-aunt, Patricia (Al Mitchell) Gibson of Lima, OH, great-uncle, Sherman (Lakisha) Gibson of Lima, OH, great-grandmother, Mariah Gibson – Hutchins of Lima, OH, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 6:00pm at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Pastor Shyquavious Gibson to officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
