(3-31-21) Officials from Coca-Cola Consolidated have announced that they will be closing their Portland facility. The plant presently employs 54 individuals.
A Statement from Coca-Cola –
We have made the difficult decision to relocate our production operations to our Indianapolis area facility.
This decision reflects our overall growth in this region and is a result of our investment in a new facility in Whitestown.
Our Portland facility will remain operational until November and we will work closely with our valued teammates to provide them the best information and options possible.
In 2019 the local plant celebrated 200 years in Portland.
Coca-Cola Consolidated acquired distribution territories and manufacturing facilities in Indiana from The Coca-Cola Co. in March of 2017.
In June of 2020 it was announced that construction of a 400,000-square-foot distribution center and automated warehouse in Whitestown’s Fishback Creek Business Park was being planned.
The $55 million facility was expected to be completed in spring 2021.
A Lafayette Coca-Cola facility was closed recently, may have signaled the closing of the Portland facility –
