Linda May

(3-17-21) At their March board meeting, the Celina Kiwanis discussed their 2021 scholarships, earmarking $4,500 for this year’s awards, an increase of $1000 over last year’s total. The increase in funds is thanks to the great response from the community despite the financial hardships of the last year. The club is grateful for their support.

Scholarship Committee Chair Linda May has sent application forms to Celina High School. The committee will review applicants soon.

In other business, the club voted to hold a drawing for Celina kindergarten and first grade students. The winners will receive new bicycle helmets. In other years this has been done as part of the club’s Reindog Breakfast and Parade, which wasn’t held in 2020.

Members also voted to donate $100 to the district library toward the cost of kindergarten registration bags.

Dale Hart is researching grants for clubs from the Ohio District. The grants will help finance signature projects.

The club drew their first gas card winners at the meeting. Since the club got a late start with this project, four winners were drawn: two for February and two for March. For the rest of the Kiwanis year, two winners will be drawn per month through January 2022.
