CELINA (1-14-21) – Yesterday, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) and Mercer County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) announced our COVID-19 vaccination distribution plans for the 1B population, starting with a drive-thru held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the Mercer County Fairgrounds. Those eligible to receive the vaccine during this clinic people who are 80 years of age and older.
When this clinic was first announced publicly on January 13, 2021 it was announced as a first-come, first served clinic. As we have learned more about the high demand for vaccine and the needs of the people we will be serving during the clinic, the decision has been made to schedule appointments for the drive-thru clinic. This operational change is intended to help shorten the wait time for clinic participants and avoid traffic problems in the area of the fairgrounds. The change is also meant to keep people from wasting their time going to the clinic at the point when the limited supply of vaccine is exhausted.
People who are 80 years of age or older and wish to schedule an appointment for the January 20, 2021 drive-thru clinic may do so online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/covid-19-drive-thru-clinic-tickets-136822157757. Online registration will open on Friday, January 15 at 8:00 AM. Vaccine recipients will be asked to enter their name, date of birth, and phone number. Clinic participants can get through the clinic more quickly and easily if they print out the Eventbrite ticket or bring it on a phone or tablet. Anyone unable to register online can make an appointment by calling 567-890-2619, beginning Friday, January 15 at 8:00 AM.
