(11-17-20) The Mercer County Health District latest report says 37 have passed away due to COVID 19.
- 33rd death from COVID-19 was an 81-year-old female from Celina
- 34th death from COVID-19 was a 69-year-old male from Celina.
- 35th death from COVID-19 was an 83-year-old male from Coldwater
- 36th confirmed death from COVID-19 was a 100-year-old female from Celina
- 37th death from COVID-19 was a 77-year-old male from Coldwater.
As of November 17, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 2,310 confirmed cases, 350 probable cases, 1,859 recovered cases, 182 pending cases, 25 hospitalizations, 37 deaths, and 2 probable deaths of COVID-19. There have been 8 confirmed cases who have passed away due to causes other than COVID-19. Currently, there are 407 active cases of COVID-19 in Mercer County.
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reports a COVID-19 incidence rate of 1,265.4 new cases in Mercer County per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks. Mercer County ranks second in the state for Ohio counties ranked by highest incidence.
Today, Governor DeWine announced a statewide curfew that will begin Thursday, November 19, 2020. The curfew runs from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and will remain in effect for 21 days. Retail establishments will be closed and people should remain at home during the curfew. The curfew does not apply to those who are working, seeking medical treatment, getting groceries or a carryout meal, and out for emergency purposes.
The MCHD continues to be extremely busy with the number of confirmed cases. We kindly ask our community to please have patience with us. As a reminder, MCHD asks that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 be sure to stay at home and isolate from others to avoid exposure. Everyone who tests positive for COVID-19 will be contacted by MCHD or the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), but this may take several days due to the significant number of cases.
