(10-8-20) Six men face federal charges in an alleged plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer, even going so far as to find and watch her vacation home and building bombs, authorities say.

Adam Fox

A document filed in federal court this week identifies the suspects (some were members of the Wolerine Watchmen militia group) as Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta.

In the criminal complaint, an FBI agent wrote that talk of targeting the governor surfaced as early as June when Fox and other members of an unnamed militia met on June 6, in an undisclosed location in Dublin, Ohio.

Four others have also be arrested –

  • Paul Bellar (21) of Milford: Providing material support for terrorist acts, gang membership, and felony firearm.
  • Sean Fix (38) of Belleville: Providing material support for terrorist acts and felony firearm.
  • Pete Musico (42) and Joseph Morrison (42) who live together in Munith, northeast of Jackson: threat of terrorism, gang membership, providing material support for terrorist acts, felony firearm. They are expected to be arraigned this afternoon in Jackson County.

According to the complaint, the group was angry about Whitmer’s mandates issued in response to the coronavirus that shut down businesses.

Early this year, the FBI learned from social media that a group of people was discussing the

“violent overthrow of certain government and law-enforcement components.”

“The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient. They discussed different ways of achieving this goal from peaceful endeavors to violent actions. At one point, several members talked about state governments they believed were violating the U.S. Constitution, including the government of Michigan and Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Several members talked about murdering ‘tyrants’ or ‘taking’ a sitting governor.”
