(9-6-20) On September 5, 2020 at 8:58 PM, Deputies and rescue personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 6,000 block of Fort Loramie Swanders Road on the report of an injury crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates an ATV was being operated in a field access lane to the north of the residence.
The operator, Peyton J. Drees, 20 of W. Mason Road, lost control, rolled the ATV, and ejecting him from the ATV.
An individual also riding in the area turned around and went back to the area of the accident and located Drees. The other person put Drees on his ATV and transported him to the residence.
Rescue personnel on scene provided lifesaving efforts while Careflight also responded. Drees was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was found that Drees was not wearing a helmet.
The crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were Fort Loramie Fire, Fort Loramie EMS, Careflight, and the Shelby County Coroner’s Office. Respectfully, John R. Lenhart Sheriff Shelby County Sheriff’s Office
