CELINA- The Mercer County Health District (MCHD) has reported two more deaths. The 14th Mercer County resident to die from COVID-19 was a 76-year-old male from Celina and the 15th Mercer County resident to die from COVID-19 was a 79-year-old male from Celina. There have now been 15 deaths linked to COVID 19 in the county.
As of August 26, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 761 confirmed cases, 32 probable cases, 666 recovered cases, 31 pending cases, 2,759 negative cases, 6 hospitalizations, 15 deaths, and 1 probable death of COVID-19. Currently, there are 78 active cases of COVID-19 in Mercer County.
The MCHD continues to consult with local schools to help ensure that classroom instruction, school activities, and athletic events are conducted in the safest way possible. When a student or staff member becomes ill with COVID-19, MCHD will partner with the school staff to help control the spread of the virus within the school.
