(6-17-20) Mercer County Sheriff, Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on St Rte 219 in Montezuma.
Grey advised that his office received a 911 call at 10:56 PM on June 16th, 2020 where the caller reported a motorcycle crash on St Rte 219 just west of St Rte 703 (Montezuma).
The investigation found that Eric P Franck (50) of 713 Lilac Drive of Coldwater was traveling westbound on St Rte 219. Frank had entered a small curve and lost control of his 1994 Harley Davidson and traveled off of the north side of the roadway, where Frank was ejected off of the motorcycle. Franck was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Frank was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Coldwater EMS and Montezuma Fire Department.
This crash remains under investigation at this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Eric P. Franck, age 50, of Coldwater and formerly of Fort Recovery, died June 16, 2020 at Mercer Health, Coldwater.
He was born June 26, 1969 in Coldwater.
His mother, Shirley (Rose) Crouch and his father, Jack Franck, both survive in Celina.
Also surviving are his daughter, Erica Franck of Celina; his two siblings, Tina (Jamie) Heiser of Salamonia, IN and Shawn (Jennifer) Franck of Celina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by is brother, Jack Jr. Franck and step father, Eugene Crouch.
He was a 1988 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and was employed at Crown, Celina.
He was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Loyal Order of Moose, both of Celina. Eric loved spending time with his dogs. He also loved being outdoors whether it be mushroom hunting or deer hunting.
