(4-25-20) New Bremen High School Principal Marcus Overman sent a tweet yestrday to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine hoping to save graduation ceremony for his Class of 2020.
Seniors have given up almost a third of their final year, had spring sports, school plays, proms and other special moments cancelled…saving graduation would be one positive to give back to the students.
Many rural communities across the state have been hoping that the Governor would relax some rules for small rural communities like New Bremen. Urban communities, like Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo have had larger number of COVID 19 cases, although Auglaize County has had some deaths and a small number of positive cases.
Overman states in his tweet-
‘we feel that a graduation ceremony can safely be held’
May 1st DeWine will be rolling out some changes to his stay at home order, including helping hospitals to continue some ‘non-essential’ procedures and helping other small businesses get back to work.
