CELINA- As of April 9, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 12 confirmed cases, 18 pending cases, 88 negative cases, 2 hospitalizations, and 1 death of COVID-19.

The MCHD reports the 12th confirmed case is a hospitalized male in the age range of 80-90 years.

At this time, MCHD reports the average age of COVID-19 confirmed cases is 42. There are a total of 8 females and 4 males who have confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Explanation of numbers

The numbers reported daily are cumulative, except for hospitalizations, which MCHD reports as the total number of people currently hospitalized. To explain further, when a hospitalized individual is discharged, that person is removed from the hospitalization total. They do remain in the positive total count, however. This method maintains consistency with how confirmed cases are reported on the state and national levels while giving our residents an idea of the current burden on hospitals.
