(4-7-20) Last week was a struggle for the McCoys (Jenn and Shawn) from St. Henry, as both Jenn and Shawn were battling COVID-19. Today in a Facebook posting they talk about a successful recovery.
We feel extremely fortunate to be able to beat this virus while staying at home with the kids and not infecting others. We can officially say we did not pass this on to anyone and I am so so thankful for that. We are all back to normal and officially out of quarantine tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8th.
Some takeaways: I understand why they say at least 14 days because after the initial several days of feeling really horrible, we started feeling ok and thought we were getting over it, and then it hit us both again and we were back down. Just when you feel like you are feeling ok, you start feeling bad again. This went on for about 15 days until we were finally completely feeling back to normal. You have ZERO energy, it takes every ounce of energy you have. Your body and your lungs and your chest HURT. You cough and cough and cough.
You can beat it. I did breathing exercises every morning, every night, every time I took a shower. (I didn’t get the cough, my husband didn’t do breathing exercises and got the cough) (not sure if that helped or not) After the initial several days of feeling horrible, we made ourselves get up and go on walks and bike rides to expand our lungs. And we PRAYED, a lot. We weren’t going to let it win. And we didn’t.
My son found this rock on our walk today…..very fitting. HOPE, it’s what we all need right now.
