From Fort Recovery Schools:
(1-17-20) The Fort Recovery School District will proceed with termination action for the 2020 supplemental contracts of Fort Recovery High School Softball Head Coach, Esther Stephen, and High School Softball Assistant Coach, Shelby Hiestand on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the advice of the district’s legal counsel. As part of the termination process, the superintendent will report the reasons for termination to the Ohio Department of Education for disposition consideration of any licenses, certificates or pupil activity permits. This termination will also suspend the full amount of their supplemental contract payments of $3,894.66 and $2,225.52, respectfully. These would have been paid at the conclusion of the softball season had they provided coaching services for the entire season.
This week, our high school administrators met with several individuals wishing to provide softball coaching services during this unique situation. The focus of the school district is to find individuals who can provide the skills necessary to unify our players, parents and community around our softball team for the 2020 season.
Off-season conditioning activities will resume for softball players on Wednesday, January 22nd under the supervision of volunteer coaches. In addition, the team fundraising dinner scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd will occur as scheduled and all presale tickets will be honored at that event.
The student-athletes on this year’s softball team have met multiple times, this week, with our school counselor, the athletic director and the high school principal to share their collective thoughts.
On behalf of our players, athletic department and our schools; the administrative team would like to thank those individuals who supported all of the necessary actions of the schools during this unfortunate non-school related event. It is also our hope that everyone will support the 2020 FRHS Softball Team by attending their games and events.
