Van Wert Police Department Release

(1-8-20) The Van Wert City Police Department conducted an investigation into to a sexual misconduct with a minor. Tristan Robert Wehner, age 19, of 431 Burt St did plea to a Bill Of Information. Below is a list of charges he pled to today in Common Pleas Court determined by Prosecutor Eva Yarger.

Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered Tristan Wehner was found to have a sexual relationship with a minor. He then extorted her to continue the relationship.

The Van Wert City Police applied for a search warrant for Wehner’s cell phone. Once notified of the search warrant and prior to turning in the cell phone, Wehner tried to delete any and all evidence off of the phone. The phone was examined and another victim was discovered. Evidence was located he also extorted this victim in the same manner.

Count One
On or about the 1st day of August, 2019 through the 1st day of December, 2019, at the county of Van Wert aforesaid, the above-named Tristan Wehner , did engage in sexual conduct with MINOR #1., not his spouse, while Tristan Wehner was a teacher, administrator, coach, or other person in authority employed by or serving in a school in which MINOR #1. was enrolled in or attended in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2907.03(A)(7), 2907.03(B), Sexual Battery, a felony of the third degree

Count Two
On or about the 1st day of August, 2019 through the 1st day of December, 2019, at the county of Van Wert aforesaid, the above-named Tristan Wehner , did with purpose to obtain any valuable thing or valuable benefit expose or threaten to expose any matter tending to subject MINOR #1. to hatred, contempt, or ridicule, or to damage her personal or business repute, or to impair her credit in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2905.11(A)(5), 2905.11 (B), Extortion, a felony of the third degree.

Count Three
On or about the 2nd day of December, 2019, at the county of Van Wert aforesaid, the above named Tristan Wehner , did, knowing that an official proceeding or investigation was in progress, or was about to be or likely to be instituted, alter, destroy, conceal, or remove any record, document, or thing, with purpose to impair its value or availability as evidence in such proceeding or investigation in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2921.12(A)(1), 2921.12(B), Tampering With Evidence, a felony of the third degree.

Count Four
On or about the 1st day of October, 2018 through the 31st day of December, 2018, at the county of Van Wert aforesaid, the above-named Tristan Wehner , did with purpose to obtain any valuable thing or valuable benefit expose or threaten to expose any matter tending to subject MINOR #2. to hatred, contempt, or ridicule, or to damage her personal or business repute, or to impair her credit in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2905.11(A)(5), 2905.11(B), Extortion, a felony of the third degree.
