(9-27-19) Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart announced recently that the Tama Road bridge and roadway approach reconstruction project was completed and the road re-opened to traffic.  The project involved nearly a half a mile of roadway reconstruction in northwest Liberty Township whereby the road was straightened.  The project also involved rehabilitating the existing bridge by replacing the superstructure and widening the abutments. The project was funded through the federal-state exchange LBR program at a cost of $828,979.57.  The LBR program funded 95% of the cost and local road and bridge funds supported the 5% balance.

A strong supporter of our local road infrastructure, 84th District State Representative Susan Manchester, joined County Commissioners and the Mercer County Engineer, as well as the contractor, Kyle VanTilburg (representing VTF Excavation LLC) in recognizing the successful completion of the infrastructure improvements.
